Il giro del mondo in 62 immagini, questo è il National Award. Il premio, una delle voci più importanti all’interno dei Sony World Photography Awards, viene annunciato ogni anno a ridosso della premiazione del vincitore assoluto di quello che ormai è, per numero di entries, il concorso fotografico più grande del mondo.
Quest’anno il fotografo italiano a vincere il National Award è Nicola Vincenzo Rinaldi con l’immagine The Hug selezionata quale come miglior scatto singolo. Rinaldi, fotografo non professionista, va quindi ad aggiungersi a Caterina Bruzzone (vincitrice 2018), Salvatore Mazzeo (vincitore 2017), Christian Massari (vincitore 2016) e Andrea Rossato (vincitore 2015) solo per citarne alcuni.

Appassionato di street photography, Rinaldi vive a Bologna e in passato ha realizzato mostre su lavori dedicati ai progetti sociali della sua città. Ai suoi occhi, la street photography è una forma di terapia, oltre ad essere la sua scelta naturale di genere fotografico. Nelle sue parole, l’opera vincente ritrae “un abbraccio avvolgente: solo i piedi sfuggono alla stretta”.
Per conoscere il nome del vincitore assoluto e dei singoli vincitori delle categorie professioniste, bisognerà attendere il 17 aprile, giorno nel quale si svolgerà la Cerimonia di Gala dei Sony World Photography Awards a Londra.
